Is there anything better to have on hand than a good supply of chocolate? This week, in #Choctoberfest, we explore All Things Chocolate.
It’s become quite chilly here, and I’ve thought seriously about hot chocolate. I hate powdered mixes, though: they never completely dissolve, and just don’t taste right to me.
This homemade chocolate syrup comes to the rescue! It’s made with Dutch-process cocoa powder, light brown sugar (thank you, Imperial Sugar, for sending me that sugar!) and – surprise! – strong black tea.
Whisk it into hot milk, and you’ve got an instant mug of cocoa that’s far, far better than any powdered mix will give you.

A note on sponsorship: Imperial Sugar sent me a supply of sugar to use. They’re the Gold Sponsor for #Choctoberfest, and we appreciate the heck out of them.
